Let's Shred 2022!

The sun is starting to rise on a new ski season! It's going to hit 70 degrees today and I've received the first bookings through the website and two reservations for the lakeside Cabin. I just got my first taste (and soreness) of skiing in Florida, and our favorite past time is fully on my Radar. I fully intended to make a season wrap up blog, then a Happy New Year's Blog but my hours and days have been pretty filled up by this beautiful little boy that came into our lives last summer. (Picture and shoutout to him at the end of this blog). Now, that the season is just over a month away, I want to get some key dates and events out to everyone for planning purposes. 2021 was an incredible year for the ski school thanks to all of the skiers who came out for lessons and took part in our events. It also could not have happened without the hard work and great attitudes of Kuz, Topher, Collin, Mason and Jayson.

Opening Day

In keeping with tradition, we will kick off the season on the first Saturday of April - April 2! We will be open every weekend in April, and the first three weekends in May. After that, our primary availability will be Monday - Friday from 8am-8pm through the summer. We may have some open weekend dates here and there and will try to make Saturday mornings available when possible.

We are offering the same membership opportunity as last year - an annual $300 membership fee, which then get's you access to the discounted menu of services (lessons, lake rental, ski rides). In addition, members receive 20% off on all purchases in the pro-shop and on stays in the Cabin or Ski Lodge. If you are planning on coming out with regularity, I recommend joining as a member, which can be done right here on the website. Oh, and I think this year's T-Shirt design may be our best yet - Thanks Amelia!

Buskey Cider Cup

The funnest fun tournament anywhere will be back for its fourth year. The Buskey Cider Cup will be held on June 4th. Sign up here. For those who don't know, it's all for fun and for all ages and abilities. Each skier gets 6 passes (or two falls) to compete for prizes in the following categories: 1) Best Crash 2) Best performance (relative to skier) 3) Smoothest Pass 4) Scrappiest Pass 5)Best Dressed/Costume. Buskey Cider of RVA will be serving delicious cider all day. We'll have a food truck for lunch and dinner. Plan to stick around for Awards, Live Music and more Buskey around the Bonfire.

If you are a tournament skier, you'll want to stay for The Buskey Class C on Sunday June 5th. Like last year, we are offering two rounds of slalom to help skiers qualify for regionals or nationals or to improve their ranking. Sign up here. We'll keep it fun, while also offering top quality driving, boats, judging and fingers crossed for good weather! A few other dates to keep in mind: Jr. Development Camp - June 14-16 VA State Championships - July 9-10

Radar Eastern Regionals at Timberlake - July 20-23

We are planning a few 1-day Junior clinics in Bumpass but still firming up the dates. We will not let another season go by without at least one Women's Clinic - Date TBD.

We've had many requests for a Driver's Clinic. I'll look for a weekend in April for this. And here it is, as promised, a picture of our favorite little dude:

Seth just turned 8 months old. He's growing by the day and always surprising us with some new ability. He's saying "Dada" along with a bunch of other babbling. We haven't found a food that he doesn't like (sounds like mom and dad). He wants to be outside all the time, which is another reason spring can hurry up and get here. Most importantly, he is happy and healthy and that's the greatest gift we could ask for. He loved meeting his big water ski family last summer, and we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from this community. We are all looking forward to seeing everyone and chasing buoys (and babies) in the months to come! Peace and Love, Corey
